Limits of Tolerance: How Process Control Defines FMT Tarnów Machines

Thermal stability, grey cast iron damping, and micron-level repeatability. We explain how technological discipline translates into the service life of working assemblies.

In machining, system durability is determined by variables invisible to the naked eye. A deviation of just a few micrometres on the spindle axis is the boundary between a stable process and self-excited chatter, which destroys cutting edge geometry and shortens bearing life.

At the Tarnów Machine Tool Factory, we do not mask structural deflections with software algorithms. The control system must execute the commanded trajectory, but static and dynamic rigidity must stem from the mass of the machine bed.

FMT design principles: Stress-relieved cast iron bodies - stabilization of the crystal structure prior to finish machining. Natural vibration damping in the cutting zone without the risk of stress relaxation during years of operation. Induction-hardened and ground guideways - assembly rigidity under variable cutting force vectors and precise maintenance of track rectilinearity.

Interferometric acceptance - measurement of positioning and repeatability for each axis based on a laser interferometric standard, in accordance with the test procedure. Detailed summaries of geometric and kinematic parameters for individual models are available in the technical documentation on our platform.
